New team focused on long view to support better equitable patient outcomes and new technologies

PHILADELPHIA—November 9, 2021—To support development and investment of early-stage ventures focused on healthcare-related technologies and outcomes, Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania (Ben Franklin) announces the formation of its new Healthcare Investment Group (HIG). The team works to nurture enterprises which focus on each step of the journey of patient needs, with a broad approach to the potential platforms and executions which enable delivery of more equitable and accessible healthcare.

Led by managing director Jennifer Hartt, the four-person HIG team leverages more than 70 years of combined experience from institutions within and beyond the Philadelphia region, in healthcare, technology, research, clinical fieldwork and investments. Its members include Sri Sriadibhatla, Ph.D., investment director; Kevon Gray, venture capital analyst; and Roze McDevitt, venture capital analyst.

“Philadelphia is a global leader in developing healthcare solutions. That role can only continue when burgeoning innovation has the right resources at its earliest levels,” says Ben Franklin President and CEO Scott Nissenbaum. “Ben Franklin’s charge has always been connecting innovators to the capital, counsel and connections which give that early support. We’re excited by the new resources and possibilities of the HIG team under Jennifer Hartt’s leadership.”

“Ben Franklin understands the opportunity for early stage investing to continue the growth of the Philadelphia region and its pioneering technologies and companies, but HIG’s ultimate client is the person whose health and wellness is positively impacted by that innovation,“ says Hartt. “We are focused on guiding innovation’s role in developing better equitable access to care, by developing better ventures which advance it.”
