Ben Franklin Technology Partners of
Southeastern PA 2025 Impact Report

A letter from our
President and CEO

Scott Nissenbaum

As I reflect on 2025, I am reminded that innovation is ultimately about people—entrepreneurs with bold ideas, investors willing to take calculated risks, and partners committed to building a stronger regional economy. At Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, our role is to connect those people and provide the capital, expertise, and relationships that help innovative companies grow.

This past year, we provided $6.5 million in funding for 28 companies, helping entrepreneurs transform promising ideas into growing businesses. Across our portfolio of 188 active companies, these investments supported the creation of 259 new jobs, the retention of more than 2,000 positions, and leveraged more than $521 million in additional capital. We also remained committed to expanding opportunity, with almost half of our portfolio led by BIPOC founders and nearly half led by women. These outcomes demonstrate that innovation and inclusion are essential to long-term economic growth for our region.

Greater Philadelphia also reached an important milestone this year, rising to the No. 5 biopharma cluster in the United States. This recognition reflects the strength of our regional innovation ecosystem, and Ben Franklin is proud to support the entrepreneurs and companies driving that momentum across life sciences, technology, manufacturing, and other emerging industries.

This year also marked an exciting milestone for Ben Franklin Technology Partners as we relocated our headquarters to Center City Philadelphia. More than a change of address, our new location places us closer to entrepreneurs, investors, universities, and partners while creating new opportunities for collaboration and community engagement. It reflects our commitment to serving as a hub for innovation throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Thank you to our founders, portfolio companies, investors, board members, staff, and partners for making this work possible. Together, we are strengthening our region's innovation economy and creating opportunities that will benefit future generations. We look forward to building on this momentum in the year ahead.
