Ben Franklin Technology Partners, the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs, and the Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies (PACT) have joined forces in tribute to Brenda Gavin’s legacy by raising contributions, in her name, to AWE Ventures-Powered by Ben Franklin.

Gavin, one of the country’s first female venture capitalists who helped guide dozens of Philadelphia-area biotechnology firms in their early days, died unexpectedly in March at age 67. She was one of the founders of Quaker Partners, a Philadelphia venture capital firm, and prior to that served as the president of S.R. One, the venture capital arm of GlaxoSmithKline.

“The contributions of leaders, like Brenda Gavin, have inspired our community to move forward and constantly improve,” said Dean Miller, president and CEO of PACT.

AWE Ventures – Powered by Ben Franklin, established last year, raises crowdfunded, donation-driven capital exclusively for investment in women-led startups and emerging enterprises.
