Zonoff, Inc., creators of the Zonoff Home Automation Platform held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday to celebrate the expansion of its executive team and to mark the opening of its brand new headquarters.

Zonoff provides a software platform that enables partners such as electronic device makers, service providers and retailers to deliver new products and services to the consumer mass market. The building at 1200 Atwater Drive is 35,000-square-feet.

On the heels of a recent $31.8 million funding round, staff said that Zonoff is continuing to strategically invest in its technology and team. It doubled the number of its overall team during the last 12 months.

They said the company is on track to grow an additional 50 percent by the year’s close. A majority of these new hires were recruited from Philadelphia’s technology talent pool and added to the engineering team, which is continuing to build and improve the most robust home automation platform on the market.

Zonoff also recently expanded its executive team with the addition of four key leaders, including:

  • Kevin Garton, chief marketing officer, joins Zonoff after acting as the managing director and chief marketing officer of Context Asset Management. Garton has more than 28 years of expertise in marketing. He will lead Zonoff’s marketing and business development teams.
  • Chris Hughes, chief financial officer, will lead all financial reporting and analysis, internal audit and controls, and business modeling. Prior to Zonoff, Hughes acted as chief financial office of Shunra Software. He has more than 20 years of experience in finance and operations.
  • Peter Gerstberger, VP and GM of Retail, formerly the director of new business development at Staples, Gerstberger brings his expertise on the retail efforts surrounding the Staples Connect platform to help build out more of Zonoff’s channel partners.
  • Doug Bellenger, VP product, is responsible for product management, roadmap and user experience design and development. Before joining Zonoff, Bellenger held similar roles at LifeShield and DirecTV where he helped scale a home automation and security platform.

“The strategic growth of our leadership team positions Zonoff to continue to lead the emerging smart home market,” said Zonoff CEO Mike Harris. “We’ve been very thoughtful in deciding where to invest resources, and we believe that our team is one of our strongest differentiating factors. We believe that our new state-of-the-art office and demo center will provide our employees with an environment and culture that will motivate them to deliver on our extremely high standards for innovation and technology development.”

To support its rapid expansion, Zonoff recently moved to Malvern. The new office is three times the size of Zonoff’s previous office, and includes a demo suite where potential and existing clients can experience a hands-on understanding of the potentials of a smart home and test new features.

Both U.S. Rep. Ryan Costello, R-6th of West Chester, and Executive Deputy Secretary at Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Neil R. Weaver spoke at the ribbon cutting ceremony about the impact of technology as a key driver of economic growth in the region.

In addition to its office opening ribbon cutting ceremony, Zonoff is a sponsor of the Philly Tech Week Signature Event that was held on Friday at the Comcast building.
