HIMSS-2015

ARLINGTON, Va., April 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — 2015 HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition today announced TowerView Health was the winner of the 9th annual Venture+ Forum pitch competition for startup companies.

TowerView-Health-200Fifteen startup companies were selected to deliver live pitch presentations to a panel of investors and healthcare industry leaders, as part of HIMSS15 held last week in Chicago. HIMSS15 brought together more than 43,000 health IT professionals and 1,200 exhibiting companies from around the world, for a week of education, networking and the latest technology solutions.

Twice annually, Venture+ Forum provides a platform for health entrepreneurs to network and connect with healthcare providers, payers, channels, institutions and strategic dealmakers to advance the adoption of innovative, evidence-based digital health technology solutions.

TowerView Health offers the first end-to-end solution to help chronically ill patients manage complex medication schedules. Patients using TowerView’s service receive a pre-filled medication tray from a pharmacy that inserts into TowerView’s proprietary connected pillbox. The pillbox can sense when patients miss a dose of their medication and sends the patient an automated phone or pillbox reminder. TowerView partners with health plans and at-risk providers to ensure that patients receive the service for free.

“It’s humbling to be named the winner of the Venture+ Forum at HIMSS. All of the startups were very impressive and we were honored to participate in the pitch competition,” said Rahul Jain, CEO, TowerView Health. “The attention and interest that we’ve received from health plans and at-risk providers since the competition has been nothing short of incredible. We started this company with the goal of making patients’ lives easier and it’s an incredible feeling to be recognized by the Venture+ Forum and the larger healthcare community at HIMSS.”

Presenting companies were selected based on criteria for having demonstrable impact on improving health care delivery and outcomes. The Venture+ Forum is designed to provide an important networking platform for health entrepreneurs, funders and partners to foster cutting-edge collaborations and support the adoption of innovative, evidence-based and outcomes-driven health technology solutions. Venture+ Forum at HIMSS15 was sponsored by Howard Burde Health Law, LLC, Mountain Summit Advisors, Polsinelli and Ziegler. Its Strategic Affiliate network includes, DreamIt Health, Health Wildcatters, Health Investment & Financing, HealthTech Capital, HealthXL, MATTER, mHealth Israel, New York eHealth Collaborative, Springboard Enterprises and StartUp Health.

“HIMSS and the mHealth Summit are focused on creating opportunities, providing business-building content, fostering partnerships and supporting entrepreneurs and early-stage companies developing innovative new health technologies. The Venture+ Forum is an excellent resource for companies to network and connect with healthcare providers, payers, channels, institutions and strategic dealmakers,” said Richard Scarfo, Vice President, Personal Connected Health Alliance at HIMSS. “Our congratulations to TowerView Health.”

Venture+ Forum will also be held at the 2015 mHealth Summit, taking place November 8-11 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in the Washington, DC area. This year’s Summit will focus on mobile and connected health solutions that are driving patient-centered healthcare delivery, and the consumer adoption of wearables, apps and personal health devices.

About TowerView Health
TowerView Health is an early-stage medication adherence company founded after their cofounder was diagnosed with leukemia. They help the 1 in 3 Americans with a chronic illness manage multiple medications. TowerView’s patients receive pre-filled medication trays that insert into a connected pillbox that can sense when a patient forgets a dose and automatically sends a text or phone reminder. Unlike other smart pillboxes, they send patients pre-filled medication trays sourced from a pharmacy so patients never have to manually fill their pillbox or worry that their pillbox is filled incorrectly and work directly with nurses to target outreach for patients who are continually non-adherent.
