The Project Liberty Digital Incubator supports the emerging tech community in the Philadelphia region. It is hosted at the headquarters of Philadelphia Media Network, publisher of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, and Philly.com, and operated by Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
The main goal of Project Liberty is to provide startups with a supportive environment that will assist in making their vision and hard work a reality. Ben Franklin and Philadelphia Media Network want to help nurture the next generation of Philadelphia businesses, while also learning from the innovative culture of entrepreneurs and startups.
Project Liberty provides free office space to selected startups. Our office is a contemporary, open floor plan, which keeps things flexible and collaborative. Our Market Street location is in the heart of Philadelphia, easily accessible via public transit, and a short walk from most of what makes Philly great -including lots of great lunch spots! The incubator will provide you with desk space, wireless Internet access, and access to the employees and resources of a major media organization.
If you are accepted into the Project Liberty program, we don’t ask for any cash or equity. As long as you’re using our resources to help your company grow, we’re happy! We do require that you work on site at least three days a week, providing an opportunity for interaction with the other startups, employees of Philadelphia Media Network, and the advisory support from Ben Franklin.
The incubator residency is for six months, but Ben Franklin and Philadelphia Media Network hope to establish relationships that will extend well beyond this formal incubation period. It always remains possible that Ben Franklin and Philadelphia Media Network could work out a business relationship with the startups residing in Project Liberty, but that is not part of the selection criteria and should not be an expectation of the startups that apply. This program is about Philadelphia Media Network supporting the emerging businesses of the Philadelphia region and facilitating an environment that can be mutually beneficial in other ways.
