DOE Energy Applications and Training Centers
Penn State is leading the U.S. Department of Energy funded Energy Application and Train Centers at The Navy Yard.
The Centers are housed at the Building 100 Innovation Center.
The Mid-Atlantic Clean Energy Application Center helps organizations locate, design and implement economically viable distributed energy projects that make appropriate use of their recoverable waste heat. The Center was funded with $2 million from the DOE.
The Mid-Atlantic Solar Resource and Training Center is developing the solar energy industry in the Mid-Atlantic region through technical assistance and workforce development. The Center was funded with $3.5 million from the DOE.
The Smart Grid Training and Application Resource (GridSTAR) Center provides continuing education and training programs in advanced power systems design, energy economics, cyber security, distributed energy systems and building-vehicle-grid systems. The Center was funded with $5 million from the DOE.
