Snapshot of Programs and Initiatives to
Support Economic Success in Southeastern PA

Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania is committed to supporting regional entrepreneurs, technology companies and the Commonwealth towards economic success.

Ben Franklin's Emerald Stage2 Ventures had its first close on $10 million in June of 2008. The fund addresses a critical capital gap for early stage information technology companies across the Greater Philadelphia region and the Commonwealth. Emerald is moving toward its second close and is actively investing in Pennsylvania companies.

Our Financial Environment Discussion on November 7th, 2008, assembled a panel of regional finance and investment experts, including several BFTP/SEP board members. They provided their assessment of the troubled financial environment and offered insights and advice to Ben Franklin portfolio companies on strategies to survive and thrive.

We held our third Capital Connect Portfolio Company Showcase on February 5th, 2009. It linked qualified investors with ten portfolio companies seeking their next round of funding. We coached each company in their preparation and delivery of a comprehensive presentation to investors. Last year's event resulted in follow-on financing for several companies.
