Emerging commercial applications of nano electronics

SEMICON WEST PREVIEW: The much-hyped properties of materials at the nanoscale are finally starting to be applied to some real electronics applications -- e.g., thermoelectric materials based on based on spray-on semiconductor nanocrystals, ultrasensitive NEMS gas sensors, carbon nanotube-based transparent conductive films and more -- which will be on discussed and displayed at SEMICON West (July 14-16) in San Francisco.

Nanotech used in contaminated land clean-up (Environmental Data Interactive Exchange)

14 Jul 2009 | 3:35 am

Nanotechnology could become the latest tool to be widely used to clean up sites contaminated with toxic chemicals.

Nanopillars promise cheap, efficient, flexible solar cells

14 Jul 2009 | 12:00 am

Researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of California at Berkeley grow dense arrays of single-crystal semiconductors arranged as nanoscale pillars on low-cost, aluminum foil substrates. When the nanopillars are combined with a transparent, positively charged semiconductor that serves as a window, the resulting 3-D photovoltaic promises efficient, cheap, flexible solar cells.

Overcoming the big ‘nanotech’ challenges (News-Medical-Net)

14 Jul 2009 | 2:22 am

Whether in the fields of medicine, sustainable energy supply or environmental protection, without making use of nanotechnology we will not be capable of overcoming the challenges which the future presents. In parallel with these efforts, though, it is essential that we examine the new

New Federal R&D Funding Opportunities - National Science Foundation

Macromolecular, Supramolecular and Nanochemistry - The program focuses on basic research in chemistry that addresses interactions leading to the assembly of macromolecular, supramolecular and nanoscopic species and other organized structures that show unique chemical and physical properties and reactivities.
